Decuvia cream preventive for pressure sores in prologed recumbency

21,9052,00

For the prevention of bedsores, soothing, protective and natural formulated

Decuvia® paste is indicated in the daily treatment of areas subject to rubbing and compression that slow down normal skin circulation, subject to contact with urine and sweat and predisposed to the onset of maceration and ulceration. It is therefore particularly recommended for the prevention of pressure sores.
It creates a barrier effect between the skin and objects or materials with which it may come into contact (nappies, sheets, diagnostic and therapeutic devices, etc.), and helps maintain the skin’s elasticity and hydrolipidic balance, determining fundamental skin integrity.
Its all-natural, vaseline- and paraffin-free formulation, rich in functional substances including Aloe Vera gel, Echinacea Extract, Avocado Unsaponifiables, Shea Butter, Phytosterols from Rapeseed and Corn Starch guarantees an excellent tolerability even for delicate and sensitive skin. Decuvia cream is microbiologically preserved with preservatives also used in food, is delicately scented and dermatologically tested.

What are pressure sores?

A pressure sore is a tissue lesion with necrotic evolution that affects the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous layers. It is caused by prolonged compression or friction responsible for mechanical tissue stress and blood vessel constrictions but also by contact with exudates that cause skin maceration.

The risk of occurrence is greatest in those individuals who, due to age, neurological disease, pharmacological sedation, pain or bone fractures, are temporarily or permanently bedridden or severely impaired in their mobility. Therefore, skin rubbing conditions, inadequate support surfaces, prolonged compression, increased temperature locally, improper use of diapers as well as hygienic deficiencies can lead to the formation of this lesion.

The appearance of fixed erythema with skin discoloration, heat, and hardening of the tissue may already denote the onset of decubitus injury, which, if neglected and inadequately prevented, can develop into a much more serious and profound injury. It is therefore essential to try to PREVENT this situation by frequently changing the position of the bedridden patient, removing localized loads, establishing proper nutrition, but above all by intervening on the areas of the body at risk with protection and keeping the skin dry, clean and hydrated. Intact and protected skin is more resistant to bacterial colonization and the force exerted by pressure on microcirculation.

How to keep the skin intact and prevent pressure sores?

Keep the skin clean, dry and elastic After washing with warm water and using a mild cleanser, dry with a soft cloth avoiding rubbing trauma. We recommend specific oily cleansers without surfactants such as Decuvia Olio Gel with moisturising, nourishing and easy-to-rinse characteristics.

In the presence of dry skin, the application of moisturising and emollient oils and creams can help restore the hydrolipid film which, especially in the elderly, is fragile and reduced in its barrier function against physical, chemical and bacterial agents.
Avoid contact with faeces and urine. In cases of incontinence and sweating, the risk of maceration can be prevented by the use of barrier pastes.

Always act with very light massages so as not to increase pressure on the affected area.
Carry out a daily inspection especially in the areas of bony prominences and skin folds.
Change the position of the bedridden patient often, removing localised loads.

Determine correct nutrition.
