The appearance of fixed erythema with skin discoloration, heat, and hardening of the tissue may already denote the onset of decubitus injury, which, if neglected and inadequately prevented, can develop into a much more serious and profound injury. It is therefore essential to try to PREVENT this situation by frequently changing the position of the bedridden patient, removing localized loads, establishing proper nutrition, but above all by intervening on the areas of the body at risk with protection and keeping the skin dry, clean and hydrated.
